Sunday Services

We are blessed to be home to two congregations in one shared location, each offering a distinct worship experience while united in faith and community.
Lutheran Church of the Savior gathers for Sunday worship at 10:00 a.m., welcoming all who desire meaningful worship, biblical teaching, and warm fellowship. Later in the day, Revival Temple of Christ holds its own dynamic worship service at 1:00 p.m., serving the community with passion and purpose.

Whether you’re visiting for the first time or searching for a church home, there is a place for you here.

Visiting

Lutheran Church of the Savior’s congregation is small but mighty because we truly are a family – knowing and caring for each other, as well as reaching out to others.  Our strong mission program helps at least one organization per month, often including activities for our members.

Creation Sunday and Fellowship Speaker on September 13

September is a wonderful month, one in which we sometimes enjoy cooler weather and the fruits of our labor in the garden. I am excited about September because churches all over the world are declaring it to be a month to celebrate Christ in Creation. Lutheran Church of the Savior will be celebrating our beautiful creation on September 13. It feels good to give God thanks for our wonderful earth, while we ask forgiveness for all we have done to disrespect the gift we’ve been given. The heat, floods,  and increasing winds are all ways that Mother Earth is telling us that she is hurting. And the good news is there are many things we can do to change the situation. I hope our celebration of the creation on September 13 will renew our hope and give us ways to change.

After the service in the fellowship hall, we will have a presentation by Dr. David Karowe, a professor at Western Michigan University, who has written many articles and done research for a long time on the effect of climate change on our planet. Recently, he has been studying with his students the effect that rising temperatures have on plants and animals in the Great Lakes region. I am so happy to have gotten to know David a little bit because he is a neighbor, and like myself, he has a relation in Iowa City. My student friends highly recommend him, and I have watched his presentations on YouTube. He is a wonderful speaker and I feel it is a great honor that he is willing to come and talk to us that Sunday.

Please join me in giving him a wonderful welcome on September 13.
