Creeds & Confessions

Holy Scripture is the primary source for our faith life, but Lutherans also have creeds and confessions which help to teach, guide, and explain how we understand the Holy Scriptures and our faith. Our creeds and confessions are reliable guides for our faith, because they were composed based on

Holy Scripture. 

Lutheran Creeds are the Apostles Creed, Nicene Creed, and Athanasian Creed. We share these in common with other Christian groups. 

Our confessions are contained in the Book of Concord with the most important being the  Augsburg Confession.
